The Kozori school of Bizen province was active during the Nambokucho period (1337-1392). They were contemporaries of the Kanemitsu school of Osafune and shared many of their characteristics.

The blade is mounted in beautiful Koshirae consisting of shakudo clouds fuchi, kashira, koiguchi and kojiri. It has a pair of great menuki under 8 string wrap and a very good iron sukashi tsuba.

Large kisaki or tip design is typical of swords produced during this period by various schools.

The cutting edge measures 17-1/8". This blade exhibits very well worked steel showing midare utsuri and a beautiful midare hamon in nioi deki with fine activity.

This sword has been awarded Tokubetsu Hozon by the NBTHK and is attributed to Kozori.
