This sword was made by the Nidai Kunisada later to become known as Inoue Shinkai, one of the top Shinto period swordsmiths
from Osaka.
The handle is wrapped in ivory colored "jabaramaki" or eight stringed wrap. The deeply carved
shakudo fuchi and kashira looks to be Mino as is the Tsuba.
It is accompanied by very nice high quality Koshirae and shirasaya with Dr. Tanobe's sayagaki.
I still have not found a matching kogai kodzuka set that would be of appropriate quality for
this piece.
The cutting edge measures 19 inches long. The nakago is ubu and is signed Izumi no Kami Kunisada.
Tanobe Sayagaki
The blade has acheved NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers.
